Proto-Galaxy Caption
A protogalaxy candidate. The blue galaxy in the image is located
approximately 10 billion light years away from us (z=2.72), and about
four times farther away than the yellower galaxies in the image
(MS1512+36 at z=0.37). The spectrum of the galaxy indicates it is
only about 10 million years old--a relative baby in terms of galaxy
evolution.
