Astronomy in the Park

Summer 1998

Once again, Steve and Irene Little will be presenting an astronomy program again this year at Rocky Mountain National Park at the Upper Beaver Meadows site. The observing sessions will be held on June 19, July 3, 17 and 31, and August 12 (a Wednesday night meteor watch), 14, and 28. For directions, take the small turnoff about 1/2 mile beyond the Bear Lake turnoff on Trail Ridge Rd. The sessions begin at dusk, with approximately 10 telescopes made available by Irene and Steve Little as well as members of the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society. The interest has been high in the past among the varied age groups of visitors to the park, many of whom have never had the opportunity to view the night sky through a telescope before these sessions. The volunteers add to that experience with their enthusiasm to share their knowledge of astronomy throughout the evening. A great way to end a visit to the park!
