UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF BINARITY ON MASS LOSS AND
ATMOSPHERIC STRUCTURE IN DETACHED SYSTEMS
Discussion Session at The Eleventh Cambridge Workshop
on Cool Stars, Stellar Systems, and The Sun --- 1999 October 4 16:00 -
17:30
The goal of this informal session was to discuss observational,
modelling, and theoretical results relating to mass loss processes
and atmospheric structure/activity derived from studies of detached
binary systems. Binary systems offer unique methods to understand stellar
activity and mass loss. However, in using such methods the influence
of the binary environment on observed phenomena must be carefully
evaluated.
