About Me

I'm a third year grad student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. I teach, take classes, and do research on star formation, focusing on massive stars and ejected nebulae. I have done projects on Herbig-Haro objects and jets from low-mass young stars, post-AGBs in the LMC, and super star clusters in NGC 3627. My astronomy page has more details on my research.

I play ultimate, ski, climb mountains, and run in my free time. I have climbed 4 significant peaks out of the US: Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso in the Alps and Mts. Pisco and Huascaran in Peru. I climbed Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, and Mt Adams in Washington. I generally ski in A-Basin, Breckenridge, Vail, and Beaver Creek (i.e. the 5 mountain pass resorts), but I hope to do more back country skiing now that I have an alpine touring setup.

I also read more than I watch TV. I end up watching a lot of movies, though, mostly because my roomates have netflix.

I like to travel. My photos can be seen at WorldIsRound with trip reports and my picasaweb page. I update the latter more frequently because it is far easier to use. Check out my photography page for more albums. I participate in couchsurfing.com and encourage others to do the same.

I used to play ultimate with Cloud 9 and was captain for about a year and a half. I play occasionally now.

Sometimes I make bread. My repertoire includes challahs and a number of "artisan breads" with varying success. Recently, I've made many bagels. My 'domestic interests' now also include gardening and homebrewing.

I have a sister in college in Pennsylvania and a brother who has graduated high school in Greenwood Village. My parents also live in Greenwood Village. Since they're computer illiterate, next time you see them try to convince them that I said something nice here. My cousin Lee wrote some poems.

An explanation of "Keflavich" would be appropriate on this page, but I'm afraid it has an uninteresting but nonetheless complicated back story. All I can say here is that it is not a city in Iceland, though I would like to visit Iceland.
