I generally prefer to write programs to do repetitive tasks even if it takes
longer than just doing them. I like doing that partly because it allows me
to "publish" my results here.
I work with Python and IDL. I prefer python because it's more flexible and free, but there is a LOT of astronomy code written in IDL and I'm stuck with some of that. Any code I post here is released under the Gnu GPL I also have python codes at my Google Code page, including an H2 rovibrational line fitting code modeled after XSPEC IRAF script to reduce spectra from DIS IRAF script to reduce spectra from TripleSpec Advanced DS9 usage (plus DS9 & imalign) Introduction to UNIX UNIX editors Complicated UNIX commands IDL code Python code IRAF tips for my ASTR 3520 class (plus a guide to imalign) For software by other people, please view my Astronomy Tools page. |
