From 1988-1990 I was Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs (College of Arts and Sciences), where I supervised the implementation of the A&S College Core Curriculum, worked on faculty recruitment, and provided oversight for the Honors Program, Residential Academic Programs, and six Interdisciplinary Programs, including the International Affairs Program. I also fundraised $100,000 for Graduate Fellowships for the Mathematics Department, and helped to initiate (1988-89) a new Program in Applied Mathematics.
From 1995-1997, I served as Faculty Associate to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (Dr. Wallace Loh), where I helped to formulate the Campus Strategic Plan in Academic Affairs . I also worked on budgetary issues, administrator reviews, and indirect cost recovery policy.
I have served on the Graduate School Executive Committee (1991-1996), the Institute Directors Council (2000-2001), and the College of Arts & Sciences Dean's Advisory Council for Development (1992-1996).
From 2005-2008, I served as Chair of the AURA Board of Directors. The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) oversees and manages the Space Telescope Science Institute (for NASA) and the National Optical Observatories and National Solar Observatory (for NSF). I am currently the CU Member Representative to AURA. I was previously Chair (2002-2003) of the Space Telescope Institute Council (STIC), the advisory board for the Space Telescope Science Institute. I am currently CU representative and Chair of the Board for ARC (Astrophysical Research Consortium), the organization of 7 universities that operates the Apache Point 3.5-meter telescope and the 2.5-meter telescope for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
