Travel and Logistics

Directions to Conference Venue: The conference will take place on the University of Colorado Boulder campus in the ABC Multi-purpose rooms in the Williams Village Center located at 3300 Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80303. A map is available here. More details on how to get to the conference venue and find parking are available here.

Air Travel: The closest airport to Boulder, CO is Denver International Airport (DIA).

Ground Transportation: There are many options to get from DIA to Boulder. You can pick up the RTD bus outside of the main terminal to take you directly to downtown Boulder. The Green Ride Shuttle will drop you off at a central location or can take you directly to your hotel for an extra fee. You can also rent a car at the airport, but note that parking on the university campus is somewhat limited.

Lodging: Here is a list of Boulder Hotel options sorted by distance to the conference location.

Meals: Breakfast will be provided each morning from 8-9am. Show up early, grab some food and coffee, and discuss with your colleagues! Coffee breaks will be scheduled for mid-morning and mid-afternoon each day with coffee, tea, and a light snack provided. During the lunch breaks, you can easily walk to one of many nearby restaurants. Many of these are also suitable for dinner, or downtown Boulder is a short bus ride away or walk.

Conference WiFi: You can access wireless internet in the conference venue using either the 'UCB Guest' network or 'eduroam.'

Parking: Limited parking is available at the conference venue in CU Boulder Lot 614. Cost to park is $2/hour or $18/day. Some free parking can be found on the street leading into the conference venue but is extremely limited - you'll be competing with students for these spots!

Social Event: We have planned a social event (in a heated outdoor covered patio) at Spirit Hound Distillery on the evening of Thursday, March 31 in nearby Lyons, CO. This will include an on-site food truck, a tour of the distillery, and time to socialize over drinks/cocktails. See the Spirit Hound website for more information. We have chartered a bus to take people to the distillery. The bus will leave from the conference venue immediately following the end of the workshop on Thursday and will return to campus by 9:30pm. You can also choose to explore downtown Lyons by following a bike path from Spirit Hound ~0.7-1 mile to nearby restaurants.

Childcare: Take a Break in Lafayette does short-term drop-off care. (Lafayette is outside of Boulder, however, so it would be a drive to get there.) Other options are hiring a babysitter from the CU jobs board or care.com.

Virtual Participation: For those who are unable to travel, virtual participation is also available through Zoom. This meeting will NOT be fully hybrid, but all talks will be streamed and recorded. Virtual participants can ask questions of speakers through the Zoom chat or workshop Slack.

Slack: We will be using Slack to continue the discussion beyond the workshop and involve both in-person and virtual attendees. Join the Slack here!

Social Media: Share your experience with us on Twitter by tagging the IRSTIG (@ir_stig) and using the conference hashtag #IRWorkshop2022.
